Voting Begins for SAML, XCBF and WSRP as OASIS Standards

OASIS members are encouraged to vote on three proposed OASIS Standards:

* Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) Committee Specification v1.1
* XML Common Biometric Format (XCBF) Committee Specification v1.1
* Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) Committee Specification v1.0

The Voting Representative from each OASIS member organization should
complete ballots by midnight ET 31 August 2003.

UBR Operators Council Announces Beta Release of UDDI
Business Registry for UDDI Version 3.0.

The UDDI Business Registry (UBR) Operators Council has announced the
availability of beta nodes for Version 3 of the Universal Description,
Discovery, and Integration specification. Key enhancements in V3
include User-Defined Keys, designation of the UDDI Business Registry
(UBR) as a Root Registry, Portable Keys, and Digital Signatures. UDDI
enables a business to register its services and to discover other
businesses that offer desired services.

OASIS Collaborates with HL7 on New XML.org Focus Area on Healthcare

OASIS will soon launch a new XML.org Focus Area on Healthcare
http://healthcare.xml.org to provide domain-specific content on XML
standards. The XML.org Focus Area on Healthcare has been developed in
conjunction with Health Level Seven (HL7), an ANSI-accredited
organization that provides standards for the exchange of data for
clinical patient care and healthcare services. OASIS members active in
the healthcare market are encouraged to send input on content to
editor.fa.healthcare@xml.org.

Healthcare becomes the latest addition to a growing series of XML.org
Focus Areas; others include Insurance, Human Resources, and Printing &
Publishing. Each XML.org Focus Area covers news, standards and
initiatives, vendors, consortia, trade associations, government agencies
and implementers, events, and resources germane to a specific industry
sector.
