OASIS NEWS
8 December 2004

Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments,
and activities for the international standards consortium.

Members Approve REL and SAML Token Profiles for WSS as OASIS Standards

Two new profiles developed by the OASIS Web Services Security (WSS) TC have
been approved as OASIS Standards. The SAML Token Profile establishes rules
regarding the use of SAML v1.1 assertions with the Web Services Security
(WSS): SOAP Message Security specification. Similarly, the REL Token Profile
sets guidelines for using ISO/IEC 21000-5 Rights Expressions with WSS: SOAP
Message Security. TC participants and co-chairs, Kelvin Lawrence of IBM and
Chris Kaler of Microsoft, are to be congratulated on their work in
developing these specifications.

OASIS Seeks Sponsors for 2005 Events

Next year, the Consortium will host two official events: the OASIS Symposium
in North America in the spring and OASIS Adoption Forum in Europe in the
fall. OASIS relies on Event Sponsorship to provide funding necessary to
maintain affordable meeting fees for these events, ensuring the widest
possible level of participation. OASIS Event Sponsors also underwrite the
cost of OASIS Committee meetings, allowing members to collaborate
face-to-face and Committees to interact with one another. The cost to
sponsor both events is 5,000 USD. Contact dee.schur@oasis-open.org or
complete the online sponsorship form for more information.
