OASIS NEWS 8 December 2004 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Members Approve REL and SAML Token Profiles for WSS as OASIS Standards Two new profiles developed by the OASIS Web Services Security (WSS) TC have been approved as OASIS Standards. The SAML Token Profile establishes rules regarding the use of SAML v1.1 assertions with the Web Services Security (WSS): SOAP Message Security specification. Similarly, the REL Token Profile sets guidelines for using ISO/IEC 21000-5 Rights Expressions with WSS: SOAP Message Security. TC participants and co-chairs, Kelvin Lawrence of IBM and Chris Kaler of Microsoft, are to be congratulated on their work in developing these specifications. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=wss --------------------------------------------------------------------- TC Submits UBL NDR for Consideration as OASIS Standard The OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) TC has completed the public review period of the UBL Naming and Design Rules (NDR) specification, and has recommended its advancement for approval to become an OASIS Standard. Members will have until 15 Dec to familiarize themselves with the submission. OASIS relies on Event Sponsorship to provide funding necessary to maintain affordable meeting fees for these events, ensuring the widest possible level of participation. OASIS Event Sponsors also underwrite the cost of OASIS Committee meetings, allowing members to collaborate face-to-face and Committees to interact with one another.
