Evans Resigns from OASIS Board; Consortium Seeks Nominees for Special
Election

Colin Evans of Intel resigned his position on the OASIS Board of Directors,
a Special Election will be held to complete his term, which expires in July
2006. Nominations from OASIS members will be accepted 7-21 Jan 2005.

TC Submits SAML for Public Review

The OASIS Security Services TC has recently approved version 2.0 of the
Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) for public review. The SAML 2.0
specification defines a standard XML-based framework for creating and
exchanging security information between online partners. The review will
continue until 14 Jan, and comments are solicited from all interested
parties.

TC Approves BTP as OASIS Committee Draft

The OASIS Business Transactions TC has approved version 1.1 of the Business
Transactions Protocol (BTP) as an OASIS Committee Draft. The BTP
specification sets guidelines for managing complex business-to-business
transactions over the internet.

OASIS Standard Vote on UBL Naming and Design Rules Opens

The OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) TC has completed the public
review period for the UBL Naming and Design Rules (NDRs) specification, and
has recommended its advancement for approval to become an OASIS Standard.
The familiarization period, which began 1 Dec, has ended and a Call for Vote
was sent to the voting representative of each OASIS member on 16 Dec.

InterOp Presentation Slides Now Available

Presentation slides from the InterOp demonstrations at the both the Gartner
Application Integration and Web Services Summit and XML 2004 are now
available on the OASIS web site. The presentations showcase standards
developed by various TCs, with the focus being on how these standards allow
interoperability between hardware and software from disparate sources.

Posting Company News to XML.org

One of the benefits of OASIS Sponsor membership is the ability to distribute
company news and announcements via the XML.org web site. Press releases and
other information sent by Sponsors to the OASIS "announce" mailing list will
be automatically posted on the XML.org homepage, linked to the member's web
site. Members must be subscribed to the OASIS PR Group to post to announce.
