OASIS News 12 May 2005 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Members Approve DITA as OASIS Standard Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) has been approved by the Consortium's membership at-large as an OASIS Standard. DITA is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering readable information as discrete, typed topics. Congratulations to Arbortext, BMC Software, IBM, Innodata, Intel, Nokia, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, the US Department of Defense, and other members of the OASIS DITA TC, and thanks to all those who participated in the review and balloting process. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200505/msg00002.html http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200505/msg00001.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- Submit Questions for BoD Candidates Consortium members are encouraged to submit questions this week for OASIS Board of Directors candidates. This is an ideal opportunity to identify issues of concern regarding the management and direction of the organization and gain a greater understanding of the positions of Board candidates. Staff will summarize all questions received and compile an anonymous, representative sample. Candidates will be strongly encouraged to address each issue as part of their online profiles. Questions are due by 20 May. Nominations for BoD and TAB close 24 May. http://www.oasis-open.org/who/election_process.php#member_questions --------------------------------------------------------------------- First Meetings Scheduled for OASIS SDD and WS-RX TCs The new OASIS Solution Deployment Descriptor (SDD) TC will hold its first meeting by phone, 1 June, and the OASIS Web Services Reliable Exchange (WS-RX) TC will meet 23-24 June. Interested parties are encouraged to join these TCs at least 15 days prior to these meetings in order to participate as a Voting Member at inception. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/sdd http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ws-rx --------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Open Standards Day Focuses on eBusiness for Europe The European community will come together to explore advances in eBusiness standards at the OASIS Open Standards Day at XTech in Amsterdam, 24 May. The programme will feature presentations on the latest eGovernment projects as well as on XML for tax-related information. It will provide updates on widely applicable specifications, such as WSBPEL, WSDM, WSRF and WSN. SAML 2.0 and its interaction with the related profile adapters in XACML and WS-Security will also be explored, as will PLCS. A European Justice System's use of the ebXML Messaging OASIS Standard will provide perspective on real-world deployment of standards.
