New OASIS Discussion List: User Assistance

To:  OASIS Members & Interested Parties

     OASIS members have requested that we open a new discussion list, 
regarding a possible new OASIS User Assistance TC.  The proposal confirms 
to our rules and is appended below.   OASIS encourages open discussions 
about possible new TCs, and is pleased to provide a dedicated e-mail list 
for OASIS members and non-members alike.   Anyone who wishes to participate 
may do so by sending a message [1] to
user-assistance-discuss-subscribe@lists.oasis-open.org.

     The discussion list is governed by Section 2.1 of the OASIS TC Process 
[2], and may last up to 90 days.  OASIS membership is not required in order 
to subscribe to a discussion list.  Typically, participants in the list 
will determine whether there is sufficient interest to form an OASIS TC, 
and then collaborate on a draft TC charter for submission.  If you do not 
wish to subscribe, but would like to monitor the discussion, you may review 
the archives of the list, which will be visible at [3].

     Please feel free to forward this announcement as appropriate.   OASIS 
is an open standards organization.  We welcome the feedback and 
participation of implementers, technologists, users and researchers who 
wish to contribute to open e-business standardization.   JBC

DISCUSSION LIST PROPOSAL

The OASIS members listed below request that OASIS start a discussion list 
to be named

     [user-assistance-discuss]

about a proposed OASIS User Assistance TC, in accordance with the OASIS TC 
Process document, Section 2.1 "TC Discussion Lists".

The required information is provided below:

 >> The name of the discussion list, which shall not be the same as
 >> the name of the list in which the TC itself shall operate if formed.

 >> A preliminary statement of scope for the TC whose formation the
 >> list is intended to discuss.

The proposed User Assistance TC would develop a cross-platform standard for 
application-integrated software user assistance documentation.

 >> The names, electronic mail addresses, and membership
 >> affiliations of the three or more Eligible Persons proposing
 >> to create the discussion list.
