Subject: OASIS IDtrust Member Section Steering Committee nominations and Elections

OASIS members:

Three seats on the OASIS Identity and Trusted Infrastructure (IDtrust)
Member Section Steering Committee [1] are up for election in April/May. All
IDtrust participants are invited to nominate qualified candidates and/or
serve on the Steering Committee. If you aren't currently active in IDtrust,
now is a great time to join.

The IDtrust Steering Committee provides guidance to help the Member Section
achieve its goal of promoting greater understanding and adoption of
standards-based identity and trusted infrastructure technologies, policies,
and practices. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering
Committee are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the IDtrust
Member Section Rules of Procedure [3].

There are five elected members on the IDtrust Steering Committee; each serve
two-year terms. The elections are staggered annually to assure continuity of
leadership. This year, the Member Section will elect two Steering Committee
members to full two-year terms and one member to serve one year (completing
the term of a retiring Steering Committee member). The two candidates
receiving the highest ranked votes will each serve two-year terms. The
candidate receiving the third highest ranked votes will serve a one-year
term.

Any IDtrust participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for
the Steering Committee. (Any OASIS member may join IDtrust at no additional
cost [5].)

Each IDtrust Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the
single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated,
the organization's Primary Rep serves as the Qualified Elector.

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE

Nominations will be open 03-April-2008 through 24-April-2008.

The election will be held 28-April-2008 through 12-May-2008.

The newly seated Steering Committee will hold its first meeting by
teleconference on 04-June-2008.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Any IDtrust participant may nominate a candidate via email to:
nominations@oasis-open.org.

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:

1. Accept the nomination;

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position
(participation in a two-hour teleconference each month, attendance at two
face-to-face meetings annually, additional support activities as needed);

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her
qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering Committee; and

4. Be a participant the IDtrust Member Section.

ELECTION PROCESS

The three new Steering Committee members will be selected by the IDtrust
Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process -
Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for
candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate
and to eliminate "wasted" votes. IDtrust Qualified Electors will be sent
detailed voting instructions separately.

Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and
confirmed.

We encourage all IDtrust participants to consider serving on the Steering
Committee. Please contact member-services@oasis-open.org with any questions
you might have.
