Ballot opens on updates to Bylaws

A member ballot is now open for four Board-approved resolutions
updating the consortium's Bylaws. The new resolutions deal with the
availability of Board seats and officer positions and written consent
within electronic communications. All voting members are encouraged to
vote by 13 Sept.

IPR Policy amendments address dual tracks and maintenance

The OASIS Board of Directors has approved amendments to the
consortium's Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy. The changes
reflect the new distinction between standards-track documents and
non-standards track documents and the treatment of maintenance
revisions to approved TC specifications. The amendments will take
effect 15 Oct.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Board revises Member Section Policy

The new version of the policy better defines the process for how
Member Section Rules of Procedure (RoP) are created and modified. It
brings the policy more in line with the TC Process by defining an
appeals procedure, enabling Special Majority voting, and designating a
formal 'MS Administrator' staff role.

-----------------------------------------------------------
SCA-Bindings public review begins

The two Service Component Architecture / Bindings (SCA-Bindings)
specifications define test cases and test assertions required for
conforming implementations. This public review ends 5 Oct.

-----------------------------------------------------------
ebXML Messaging Services 3.0 public review begins

ebMS 3.0: Part 2, Advanced Features, complements the ebMS 3.0 Core
Specification by defining advanced functionality for message service
configurations, message bundling, messaging across intermediaries
(multi-hop) and transfer of (compressed) messages. This public review
ends 12 Oct.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Security Services public review begins

The Service Provider Request Initiation Protocol and Profile defines a
generic browser-based protocol by which a request can be made to a
service provider to initiate a protocol-specific request for
authentication. The SAML 2.0 Metadata specification defines metadata
extension elements to enable XML Signature [XMLSig] algorithm
descriptions. The public review ends 13 Oct.

1.0. The public review ends 1 Sept.

-----------------------------------------------------------
DITA Asian Adoption Subcommittee forms

The new subcommittee will work to promote the use of DITA in the
Pacific-Asia region. It will research the area's special needs for
adopting the DITA OASIS Standard, develop best practices, and promote
regional activities including conferences, workshops, and webinars.
Mathew Varghese of Citrix serves as chair. All interested parties are
invited to join (membership in the main DITA TC is required).
