Each will serve a two-year term beginning July 2011. All members are encouraged to consider serving in these positions or nominating qualified candidates. Nominations close 12 May. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/201103/msg00010.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TAB drafts interoperability guidelines Three draft documents from the Technical Advisory Board are aimed at assisting TCs with conformance, testability, and interoperability. The guidelines may form the basis for more formal requirements on TCs in the future. Member feedback will ensure this information is in line with best and current TC practices. The deadline to provide comments to the TAB is 27 May. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/201103/msg00007.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Two SAML public reviews begin The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0 Change Notify Protocol 1.0 describes request and response messages for informing SAML endpoints about available changes to subjects and attributes associated with subjects. The public review ends 4 May. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/201104/msg00002.html The SAML Session Token Profile 1.0 defines a format for communicating security session state based on the SAML Assertion. It also specifies two different mechanisms for communicating this information between servers via a standard Web browser. This public review ends 1 May. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/201104/msg00000.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ebXML Messaging Services 3.0 public review begins Part 2, Advanced Features of the ebMS 3.0 Core Specification specifies advanced functionality for message service configuration, message bundling, messaging across intermediaries (multi-hop) and transfer of (compressed) messages as series of smaller message fragments. The public review ends 18 April. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/201104/msg00001.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TC approves SKSML 1.0 as Committee Specification Members of the Enterprise Key Management Infrastructure (EKMI) TC have approved the Symmetric Key Services Markup Language (SKSML) 1.0 as a Committee Specification. SKML is an XML-based messaging protocol by which applications executing on computing devices may request and receive symmetric key-management services from centralized key-management servers, securely, over networks. Congratulations to TC co-chairs, Timothy Bruce of CA Technologies and Anil Saldhana of Red Hat and to all EKMI TC participants. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201103/msg00002.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TC approves OpenDocument 1.2 as Committee Specification Members of the OpenDocument TC have approved the Open Document Format (ODF) for Office Applications version 1.2 as a Committee Specification. ODF 1.2 specifies the characteristics of XML-based applications and the characteristics of software applications that read, write and process such documents. Congratulations to TC co-chairs, Michael Brauer of Oracle and Rob Weir of IBM, and to all ODF TC participants. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201103/msg00003.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TC approves SAML Profile for Algorithm Support as Committee Specification Members of the Security Services (SAML) TC have approved the SAML 2.0 Metadata Profile for Algorithm Support as a Committee Specification. The profile includes an element allowing entities to describe the algorithms for XML Encryption and Signature metadata that they support. OASIS is cosponsoring the conference, which will be held 19-21 April in Guangzhou, China. Members receive a discount off registration. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/announce/201103/msg00006.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LegalXML elects new Steering Committee members Monica Palmirani of the University of Bologna School of Law and Robert O’Brien have been elected to serve one-year terms on the LegalXML Member Section Steering Committee. LegalXML produces technical specifications that support implementation of XML technology in electronic legal documents, records, and information exchanges. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/announce/201103/msg00008.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OASIS opens LinkedIn group OASIS has opened its LinkedIn Group to the public. The "Discussions" section of this Group can be used for building support for new work at OASIS, identifying gaps where standards are needed, and promoting adoption of existing OASIS work in the international marketplace. The "Promotions" section may be used by OASIS members to promote their corporate webinars, events, products, or other announcements relevant to OASIS standards. http://linkd.in/OASISopen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OASIS explores geothermal data standardization A new OASIS LinkedIn Group Discussion has been started to determine the feasibility, and possible scope, of an open standards project for geothermal asset exploration, measurement and power generation.
