OASIS NEWS 24 November 2004 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS WS-Reliability Approved as OASIS Standard The Consortium has announced that the Web Services Reliability (WS-Reliability) v1.1 specification, developed by the OASIS Web Services Reliable Messaging (WSRM) TC, has now been approved as an OASIS Standard. WS-Reliability establishes an interoperable method of ensuring message delivery over the internet, enabling companies to conduct reliable transactions utilizing Web services. Congratulations to the OASIS WSRM TC participants, and to all OASIS members who took part in the review and balloting. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/announce/200411/msg00003.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- Public Review of WS-Context Begins The OASIS Web Services Composite Application Framework TC has approved version 0.8 of the Web Services Context (WS-Context) specification as a Committee Draft. The TC defines an open framework for supporting coordinated and transactional compositions of multiple Web services. WS-Context is available for public review until 12 Dec. Comments are solicited from all interested parties. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200411/msg00006.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Standard Vote on SAML Token Profile and REL Token Profile Opens OASIS members are strongly encouraged to cast ballots on two Committee Drafts that have been submitted for consideration as OASIS Standards, the SAML Token Profile and the REL Token Profile. The SAML Token Profile serves to establish rules regarding the use of SAML v1.1 assertions with the Web Services Security (WSS): SOAP Message Security specification. Similarly, the REL Token Profile sets guidelines for using ISO/IEC 21000-5 Rights Expressions with WSS: SOAP Message Security. Details include: hotel location and reservation information, call for participation guidelines and online submission form, event sponsorship information, and OASIS Technical Committee meeting signups. Deadlines are approaching for the Call for Participation - 13 Dec and OASIS Technical Committee Meeting Room Reservations - 17 Dec. http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2005/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Federated Identity Management Solutions Showcase Members of the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee are preparing to host a SAML 2.0 OASIS InterOp lab at the RSA Conference, 14-18 Feb, in San Francisco. This year, the Lab will showcase interoperability in real-life use cases between vendors delivering federated identity solutions built around SAML 2.0. Space at the conference is being underwritten by the U.S. General Services Administration's eAuthentication Initiative, with additional contributions by Enspier and RSA Security. InterOp participants will collectively cover additional costs. Space is limited and interest is high.
