Public Reviews Begin for SAML Profiles and for ebXML Messaging v 3.0

OASIS Committees submitted ebXML and SAML-related specifications for public
review this week. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments.

The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) Profiles and Extensions define
and maintain a standard, XML-based framework for creating and exchanging

Services TC, the specification package includes the SAML Metadata Profile,
SAML Attribute Sharing Profile for X.509 Authentication-Based Systems, SAML
XPath Attribute Profile, SAML Metadata Extension for Query Requesters, and
SAML Protocol Extension for Third-Party Requests. Comments on these documents
must be received by 10 July.

The ebXML Messaging Services v 3.0: Part 1, Core Features specification
defines the transport, routing and packaging of e-business transactions. Its
public review ends 11 July.

Washington Implements CAP-Based Technology

The Emergency Management Division of the US State of Washington's Military
Department announced that it has been testing an alert system based on the
Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) OASIS Standard. Washington State was selected
by the US Department of Homeland Security as the pilot state for this new
system last year. CAP enables information exchange to advance incident
preparedness and response to emergency situations. Department officials in
Washington plan to roll out the new alert systems to the entire state soon.
