Subject: Re: [obix] Building Telemetry
Toby...keep up the good work on oBIX and if there are any announcements please pass them to Rawlson for inclusion in the CABA NewsBrief. Regards, Ron Zimmer CABA President & CEO www.CABA.org ----------------------------------

We have some constructs for this in oBIX already. These meet the minimum needs for control systems. There is a strong notion of building telemetry built into Energy Interoperation, published a year ago and now the basis for OpenADR 2.0. Energy Interoperation is concerned with notions of energy use, and not with other measurements routinely
collected in building system environments. An efficient standard means of building telemetry would be beneficial, especially in support of cloud-based applications including Building Analytics. There is a new standard, arising from work in NAESB for exchanging Energy-related information collected by utilities. Most implementations that I have seen so far rely on exchanges of CSV-based data. Early adopters report that their code
is not portable between utilities today. As the Green Button standard becomes codified, it would be useful if it aligns with more general notions of building telemetry that oBIX might develop. If we develop such telemetry, it should be a separet standard outside of the core oBIX spec, IMO. tc “It is the theory that decides what can be observed." --
