Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (ODATA-1585) Should be able to change type when PATCHing an entity
Michael Pizzo created ODATA-1585: ------------------------------------ Summary: Should be able to change type when PATCHing an entity Key: ODATA-1585 URL: https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/ODATA-1585 Project: OASIS Open Data Protocol (OData) TC Issue Type: Improvement Components: Protocol Affects Versions: V4.01_OS Reporter: Michael Pizzo Fix For: V4.02 In the [standard]([https://docs.oasis-open.org/odata/odata/v4.01/odata-v4.01-part1-protocol.html#sec_UpdateanEntity)] it says: Entity id and entity type cannot be changed when updating an entity. {quote  However, updating an entity type doesn't necessarily fundamentally change the entity itself (for example, an employee can become a manager and back). Updating the entity type should be allowed when updating an entity. There are actually provisions for this in other parts of the standard that talk about which properties are retained when patching an instance with a new type. -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.3#803004)
