Members of the OpenOffice.org Community have selected Barcelona, Spain as the venue for their 2007 Annual Conference in September. The result of the on-line ballot of Community members was as follows: Barcelona, Spain 297 Dehradun, India 224 Beijing, China 82 The figures show the continuing growth of the OpenOffice.org community, with the number of votes cast over 40% up on last year. In particular, the presence of two very strong proposals from the Asia-Pacific region reflects the huge success and potential for OpenOffice.org in this part of the world. Jesús Corrius, leader of the successful bid, was delighted with the result: "We are very happy. The Catalan, Spanish, Basque and Galician communities with the help of the University of Barcelona, and the support of the Catalan and Spanish Government, will work hard to make Barcelona the best place to hold an OpenOffice.org Conference." Previous Conferences have been held in France, Slovenia, and Germany, and have been noted for the quality of the conference sessions and the warmth of the social gatherings.
