ODF Adoption TC - 10 June 2008 - Minutes

First, thanks to Marino Marcich for
volunteering to serve as Secretary for the next 90 days, through Sep 2,
2008. 

Here are the minutes of our June 10th
meeting:
 
1.) Logistics 
   - Roll call 
 
**Quorum present: Don Harbison (IBM), Rob
Weir (IBM), Erwin Tenhumberg (Sun), Zaheda Bhorat (Google), Meredith Whittaker
(Google), Marino Marcich (ODF Alliance), Aslam Raffee (DST, South Africa),
Bart Hannsens (Fedict, Belgium), J David Eisenberg
 
   - Acceptance of open minutes from previous meetings
 
**Minutes approved
 
   - Acceptance of today's agenda 
 
**Agenda approved

2.) Nominations for co-Chair and Secretary

 
**Don Harbison described the formal
OASIS rules governing resignation/nomination of chairs/co-chairs
**Formal resignation to the TC
needed from Erwin Tenhumberg
**Nominations received for Louis
Suarez Potts (Sun) and Zaheda Bhorat (Google) as co-chairs; chair will
set deadline for receipt of nominations before proceeding to ballot
**Proposal for a rotating (quarterly)
Adoption TC Secretary approved; Marino Marcich (ODF Alliance) agreed to
take on this role for the first quarter

3) Update on formation of ODF Implementation, Interoperability and Conformance
TC (OIIC TC) 
 
**Rob Weir (IBM) briefed participants
on the status of discussions; full 90 days allowed under OASIS rules, though
the discussions may have ripened to point where a call for a charter can
be made before the full 90 days lapse
**TC members called on to reach
out to all ODF implementers, including those who do not typically participate
in OASIS ODF activity
**ODF Alliance to spread the word
to its members via newsletter, blog

4.) Action Items

**Toll-Free Dial In Number Issue: Chair will
contact OASIS staff once more to investigate availability of toll free
international conference call bridge. 
**ODF errata: Rob Weir briefed participants
on the status of discussions in the ODF TC; deadline for submissions is
June 30; review will begin thereafter; final errata document available
Aug 11 and then sent to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC 34
**Action Items: Chair stressed the need to
make the ODF Adoption TC Action Items wiki the focal point in terms of
organizing and mobilizing our future activity

5.) OpenOffice.or Conference - ODF Track content discussion
 
**ODF tracks exists; deadline for submitting
papers extended to July 20
**Ideas discussed included establishing an
ODF interop demo area
**

6.) ODF News / Round Table 
 
**Best wishes, thanks, and appreciation for

**Microsoft has officially joined the ODF
Technical Committee. Welcome Microsoft.
