Mm, but as a work-around, you can update an item, right ?

So if you "modify" the event and click on "submit changes", the owner and / 
or the group (you can change that) will receive an email "action item modified"
Granted, not the most elegant solution but it might get the message across :-)

Not that I'm aware of. Kavi can send a message to the assignee when
the item is created, but that's it.
