12 months (2010) planning - All
The TC discussed the need for an action
plan to re-vitalize the ODF Focus Area hosted on xml.org.
OASIS is seeking sponsorship renewals.
The TC agreed that a detailed assessment, recommendation and action plan
is needed.
- IBM requested an invoice for the next
12 month period.
- Michael Brauer reported that Eduardo
Gutentag would likely receive a similar invoice from OASIS.
- Don Harbison reported that he was currently
assessing the web site in preparation for a recommendation to IBM management
for renewal of sponsorship.
- Don Harbison indicated he will reach
out to other TC members with corporate affiliation to better understand
their positions with respect to sharing the sponsorship going forward;
i.e. Novell, Beijing Red Flag China 2000, Google.
The TC agreed to the following ODF Focus
Area action plan:
- Marino Marcich to provide site
statistics for ODF Alliance site.
- Rob Weir to report out on a
comparison of site statistics with the ODF Focus area / ODF Alliance.org
sites.
- Don Harbison to invite Carol
Geyer and the XML.org web master to a future TC meeting to discuss the
opportunities for future design changes and policies for granting administrator
rights to TC member or members.
- Bart Hanssens suggested TC members
familiarize themselves with the available Drupal templates.

3.) Status update for OpenOffice.org
Conference planning including ODF Track, ODF Interoperability Workshop,
etc. - All
Louis urged those TC members planning
to attend the OpenOffice.org conference to expedite their accomodation
bookings.
Rob summarized the ODF Track status
as follows:
- good amount of abstracts submitted
- 'State of ODF' panel abstract is accepted.
-
provides opportunity for OASIS ODF TC chairs, the ODF Alliance and the
ODF Toolkit Union to represent a portrait of the 'state of ODF'.
-
Don suggested this also provides a unique communications opportunity
to summarize the the session messages for Web publishing.
-
Rob suggested an outline comprised of (3) pillars: Adoption, Implementation,
and Interoperability.
-
Louis suggested a fourth pillar: Futures or Innovation
4.) Review, TC Action Item plan: http://wiki.oasis-open.org/odf-adoption/OdfAdoptionTcActionItems
- All
Don updated the Action Item table to
reflect the ODF Focus area workplan.
5.) ODF News / Round Table --
All
Aslam Raffee provided a status report
on ODF policy adoption by a South African provincial government. The challenge
is to provide pragmatic implementation advice and services that recognize
the need to migrate binary MS-Office documents.
Marino provided a status report on the
recent ODF government workshop held in Brasilia. See his blog post here
for the details: http://tiny.cc/hmjXV
Rob provided a status report on the
