Section 3 Document Content Accessibility

From the section title "Document Content Accessibility", readers may expect
"lower level (concrete?)" descriptions such as tag examples, similar to
Section 4.
Shall we change the title to indicate high-level description, such as
"Basics of Document Content Accessibility"?
Or shall we refer concrete descriptions (related sections in main ODF spec
and in this document) in each sub-section?

Section 3.3

Shall we mention future improvement here? Or should we mention only about
ODF 1.1?
e.g. "It is planned to deprecate this attribute (table:is-subtable) in the
future ODF spec."

Section 4.1.2 <svg:description>

I believe <svg:description> can be converted into/from an HTML longdesc
attribute and a linked page.
So, please add a column to indicate "HTML element using longdesc=__".

Section 4.2.5 Preservation of Table structure

Shall we refer future improvement of ODF spec here?

e.g.
"ODF 1.1 does not support native tables in presentation. ....
It is planned to add native table support in future version of ODF."

Hiro

Greetings,

Rich has passed the baton back to me, back and fresh from refresh
activities. It'll have to go back to Rich next week, as I'll be
unavailable.

Connection info:

Thursday 5Oct; 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT / 5pm CET
1-866-839-8145 (US toll free)
1-865-524-6352 (Intl)
code: 6560654#

IRC: http://irc.oasis-open.org
channel: "&office-accessibility"

I would like to propose for our agenda:

* Approval of minutes from last week (attached, and also at:
<
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office-accessibility/200609/msg00026.html
>
)

* Our Accessibility Guidelines. Attached please fine draft #8, which is
also at:
<
http://oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/office-accessibility/download.php/20390/ODF_Accessibility_Guidelines_7Sept06.odt
>

I appear to be the main bottleneck, still working on Chapter 2 which
is late. Also, I understand that Steve Nobel will update the section on
MathML.

* Because I expect we'll want to talk about it anyway, the resignation
of Louis Gutierrez, CIO of Massachusetts ITD

* Because I expect we'll also want to about this anyway, the Section
508/255 Refresh meeting of last week, which formed a subcommittee whose
charter includes document content accessibility.

* Action items from last week (Dave - please help me if I missed any):
JS: to pursue further investigation of background image ALT text
      in W3C, elsewhere
JS: Contact AFB, APH, & Brian Charlson about making an ODF
      testimonial
All: review the ODF Accessibility Guidelines document to date,
       provide feedback
RS: "Find out what is needed (to clarify)" [I could use clarification
on this!]

* Action item I'd like to give someone: PING TC as to why our carefully
updated charter is not yet in place at:
