ODF Minutes - CSUN Conference, March 23, 2007, 6:00 - 9:00 pm PST Roll Call: Peter Korn Rich Schwerdtfeger Malte Timmerman Hiro Takagi Chieko Asakawa Janina Sajka Peter Brunet Steve Noble Mike Paciello Peter Sullivan (Duxbury Systems) Sean Jones (Nebraska Association of the Blind) Agenda 1. Introduction of Peter Sullivan and Sean Jones 2. Approval of Minutes from last meeting - Done 3. Updates to Accessibility Guidelines - Action Item: Peter K., to update current draft with Rich & Dave P., comments 4. ODF 1.2 Areas of Consideration - Meta data updates - Tables - Password protection & digital signature issues - Document landmarks to facilitate navigation - Action item: Sean Jones to create EDU use cases - Accessible presentation 5. SMIL discussion - Dave P., raised concerns around SMIL & animations via on line comments - Action Item: Ask Dave P to discuss concerns in depth with group, adoption of SMIL as full standard - Rich indicated that SMIL is a not a good solution for simple animations - Rich recommended the need to document best practices of file types in the next version of Guidelines 6. Meta Data discussion - Peter Sullivan discussed the importance of language tagging for braille output/translation Action Item: Hiro will investigate the LANG element/attribute? 7. Hiro / Chieko Presentation on a Proposal for Presentation Accessibility - Discussion included: - vector graphic support by various markup and publishing systems - Focus on formal diagrams; SVG RDF contains the richest graphic description - Generalization of connectors with primarily emphasis on relationship definitions - NOTE: Someone recommended a proposal to the TC on this topic, my notes are unclear - Use meta data for formal diagrams (UML, mind map) - Preservation of alignment needed - Automatic preservation of alignment history - Useful for automatic conversion of pictorial braille - Action Item: Hiro to send slides to group - Action Item: Invite John Gardner to speak on blind interfaces - Action Item: Peter Sullivan to provide feedback on guidelines as they relate to braille systems
