After "As XML has no native support for binary objects" I would add "and uncompressed XML can be lengthy," and then change: "Open Office uses a package file to store the XML content" to "Open Office uses a package file to store the compressed XML content" One of the primary advantages of ZIP is the much smaller files it produces than when using XML directly. This is particularly important when this format is used for archival purposes; if you store billions of documents, having a compression scheme can really help! That advantage should be mentioned in the document itself.
