Subject: PRD02 - RELAX NG datatypes
Dear all, The schemas for ODF declare the datatype library " http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-datatypes", yet this is not a part of the published Standard. The conventions for using this library are governed by the OASIS Committee Spec here: http://www.relaxng.org/xsd-20010907.html Which ODF should probably include in its bibliography. It appears ODF only wishes to use the lexical aspects of ID/IDREF/IDREFS type attributes, so additionally it would be helpful to point out that ODF is ignoring the recommendation (in the CS) that another spec, that for using W3C XML Schema Datatypes with RELAX NG at http://www.relaxng.org/xsd-20010907.html#compatibility -is followed. As it is, mainstream tools such as jing (and the popular oXygen editor which uses it) report the ODF schema as faulty - so making the design oddities explicit in the text would be helpful for users. (Alternatively, avoid declaring the IDREF/IDREFS type at all in the schema, and use something like NCName instead). - Alex. ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
