Subject: recalculation model and chapter 3 generally

Greetings!

Questions and observations on chapter 3:

3.1 Expression Calculation - to the extent this is a non-normative
explanation of expression calculation that it should go in a
non-normative annex?

3.2 Non-Scalar Evaluation - is this normative or explanatory?

3.3 OpenDocument Calculation Settings - I feel uncertain about the
appearance of this in part 2. We already define these attributes and
their semantics in part 1. It those definitions are in some way
insufficient, we should correct them in part 1. Note that for
table:search-criteria-must-apply-to-whole-cell, the definition is the
basis for a *shall* statement.

3.4 strikes me as explanatory material that could be in an annex but it
doesn't offer any normative requirements.

3.5 err, if we admit we don't define/require a numeric model, enough has
been said. Suggest we lose this section, unless in some more useful form
as part of an annex.

3.6 this needs to move to conformance, be cast as evaluators and do
whatever needs to be done with the portable language stuff.

Seems to me that we could move the non-normative parts of 3 to an annex
and combine what little normative material there is with the conformance
clauses. That would eliminate chapter 3 as it presently stands, which
would re-number everything else so would appreciate some quick feedback
on this structural change. (Noting that we can keep the non-normative
content, just not here.)

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Patrick
