Subject: 1.5 Document Processing and Conformance
Greetings, Third paragraph of 1.5 Document Processing and Conformance reads: Conforming applications that read and write documents MAY preserve foreign elements and attributes, but don't have to. Comment: Since have alread said 'MAY,' the 'but don't have to.' is redundant. Suggest: Conforming applications that read and write documents MAY preserve foreign elements and attributes. Last paragraph reads: There are no rules regarding the elements and attributes that actually have to be supported by conforming applications, except that applications should not use foreign elements and attributes for features where a definition exists within the Open Office schema. Comment: Actually shouldn't there be a 'foreign' in front of 'elements and attributes'? And make foreign elements and attributes alternatives? That is you can have foreign attributes without foreign elements. Suggest: There are no rules requiring support of foreign elements or attributes by conforming applications. Conforming applications should not use foreign elements or attributes for features defined by the Open Office schema. Hope everyone is having a great day!
