Subject: [office] Open Office TC: Submission for Public Review of commitee
draft
Mary,
the OASIS Open Office TC has recently approved the OASIS Open Document
Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) 1.0 specification as a
Committee Draft and in its last meeting has approved it for public review
(see minutes at
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200412/msg00022.html). The
review shall start at the next possible date, but not before 3 January 2005.
Below is a short description of the specification and a list of files.
Description
-----------
The OpenDocument specification defines an XML schema for office applications
and its semantics. The schema is suitable for office documents, including
text documents, spreadsheets, charts and graphical documents like drawings
or presentations, but is not restricted to these kinds of documents. The
schema provides high-level information suitable for editing documents. It
defines suitable XML structures for office documents and is friendly to
transformations using XSLT or similar XML-based tools.
Files
-----
The file are available here:
1. The Committee Draft specification is available in OpenOffice.org XML file
format and in PDF format. The committee draft contains three embedded
Relax-NG schemas.
a) the schema for office documents (specified in chapters 1 to 16),
b) the normative schema for the manifest file used by OpenDocument
package format (specified in chapter 17), and
c) the strict schema for office documents that permits only meta
information and formatting properties contained in this
specification itself (specified in appendix A).
The OpenOffice.org XML version of the specification is located at:

The PDF version is at

2. The normative Relax-NG schema for office documents extracted from
chapters 1 to 16 of the specification document is available at:
http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/office/download.php/10764/offic
e-schema-1.0-cd-2.rng
3. The normative Relax-NG schema for manifest files extracted from chapter
17 of the specification document is available at:

4. The normative Relax-NG strict schema for office documents extracted from
appendix A of the specification document is available at:
