Subject: Re: [office] The potential issue of using embedded spreadsheet to representtable in presentation - related to Appendix E.3 of OpenDocuement 1.1

It would seem that for now you could annotate the cells as blank in the ODF and then move them write the blank cells back out. ... a blank cell attribute used for presentations only. You are only concerned about marking them blank when bringing them in to ODF.

In reality we are no going to allow people to create tables in ODF until 1.2. So the problem seems to exist only when we bring them in. Now, you also may need to import an existing .ppt, edit it, and save it back as .ppt. In this case you do know what cells are visible and can write them back out.

Some more work is needed to develop the idea but I don't think this is insurmountable.

[office] The potential issue of using embedded spreadsheet to represent table in presentation - related to Appendix E.3 of OpenDocuement 1.1

In MS Office PowerPoint document, the rows, columns, cells' info of the table in presentation are as same as the table displayed in the MS PowerPoint, although there is empty cell or rows at the end of the table. But in embedded spreadsheet behavior, it generally saves only meaningful cell information other than all displayed cell's. That means some table structure information in PPT file may not be preserved in ODF, or processed correctly in ODF application.

ms1.ppt is the MS Office PPT file which contains a table with two column and two row, the second row contains two empty cell. MSPPTTable_Office12.txt is the snippet of the Office12 XML which is corresponding to ms1.ppt.

Hello2.odp is the presentation file which using embedded spreadsheet to represent the same function of ms1.ppt. I found it's very hard to append one row with two empty cell into it and processing well ( open and save back).
