Subject: Re: [office] Fw: [odf-adoption] sxw-odt comparison

Perhaps such a comparison does already exist? Go to "Is OpenDocument an Open Standard? Yes!" at: http://www.dwheeler.com/essays/opendocument-open.html and look at the "No domination" section. It lists some of the changes made to OpenDocument after the base document was submitted to the standards body. I don't bother to list all of the changes. The point of that paper was to show how a REAL standards process works, namely, you start with a base document, then various people propose SUBSTANTIVE changes that change how it works for the betterment of all. In this case, OpenDocument shows this very nicely - many different people made changes, so that all implementors had to make some real changes.... and all agree that the result was better than the original. --- David A. Wheeler > >> My incomplete, out-of-date (and probably too technical) list has:... That's a nice list, and I probably didn't include all of them. I may add some of these points, they're nice ones (though it'd be nice to know who proposed them!). Anyone know of any errors in that list, before I try to add some of them? --- David A. Wheeler
