Subject: Proposal to clarify text 4.3.4 Numbered Paragraphs
Proposal to clarify text 4.3.4 Numbered Paragraphs. Currently the text reads; "Numbered paragraphs may use the same continuous numbering properties that list items use, and thus form an equivalent, alternative way of specifying lists. A list in <text:list> representation could be converted into a list in <text:numbered-paragraph> representation and vice versa." This appears to be confusing and can be read to mean that everything about "text:list" and "numbered-paragraph" is equivalent. If we read the archives and flash back to 2003 the idea that an ODf implementation should be able to express any list in either representation and also be able to convert from one representation to the other is not implied. So in the above text the word 'equivalent' should actually be 'similar'. To make the point very clear I'd like to suggest we revise the above paragraph to become the following; "Numbered paragraphs may use the same continuous numbering properties that list items use, and thus form a similar, alternative way of specifying lists. Each with their specific advantages. A list in <text:list> representation could be converted into a list in <text:numbered-paragraph> representation and vice versa, to have the same visual appearance." Thanks. -- Thomas Zander
