Well this thread is too long already. I really thought I could assume some knowledge about fields.

My offer would be to give a talk about how fields in Office apps work and how users use it.

If theres interrest I'm happy to do a 30 min presentation in one of the next calls.

Florian, it's clear this discussion has gotten way off track. People are 
not understanding the intention behind your original proposal, nor the 
subsequent solution. I myself am confused now.

So we need to step back and answer the question: what are you trying to do??

Questioning the intentions behind people's question isn't the best way 
to move forward.
