Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1725) Editor Note: Section18.364 style:text-line-through-type

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1725?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=11588#action_11588 ]

David Faure commented on OFFICE-1725:
-------------------------------------

"a single character"?? you mean a single line, right?
Here again, the intent is for this to work exactly like underlining.
Indeed, for both, the -style attribute defaults to "single", I see (in koffice, where I reverse-engineered that from OpenOffice-created documents),
while the -type attribute defaults to "none".
This should be mentionned explicitely, whereever we mention default values nowadays (that's in the spec text itself, right?)

But if -type is explicitely set to "none", then there is no line being shown, I don't agree with your statement that a line will show up,
no matter what -style says.

About your last question: the way to avoid line-through would be to set -type to none, simply.

I agree that "none" being in both attributes is a bit confusing and unnecessary. Could we deprecate
the use of "none" in -style, maybe? I wonder if anyone uses it (it wasn't in my implementation, so I assume
OpenOffice doesn't use it either, unless I missed something).

> Ed. Note Tricky. If its value is none and style:text-line-through-style is not none, then a single character can be used for line through. Otherwise, if it has the value single or double, then line through occurs. So, the only way to avoid line through is to have "" (empty string) or avoid this attribute altogether? Seems like a very difficult way to accomplish this goal.
