Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1725) Editor Note: Section18.364 style:text-line-through-type

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1725?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=11649#action_11649 ]

Michael Brauer commented on OFFICE-1725:
----------------------------------------

David: OpenOffice.org actually uses the "-style" attributes to turn on and off underlining. The "-type" attribute is only used if a character is double underlined.

My recommendation would actually be to deprecate the value "None" for the "-type" attribute rather than for the "-style" attribute. The reason is that we have taken the "-style" attributes from an older CSS3 Text specification that has only "-style" attributes but no "-type" attributes. We added the "-type" attributes only because the CSS3 attributes allows "double" lines and "dotted" lines, but no "double dotted" lines. That is, we moved the information whether a line is single or double into a separate attribute to provide more combinations.

> Ed. Note Tricky. If its value is none and style:text-line-through-style is not none, then a single character can be used for line through. Otherwise, if it has the value single or double, then line through occurs. So, the only way to avoid line through is to have "" (empty string) or avoid this attribute altogether? Seems like a very difficult way to accomplish this goal.
