Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1634) Editor Note: Section17.267 form:data-field

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1634?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=11734#action_11734 ]

Michael Brauer commented on OFFICE-1634:
----------------------------------------

Not only the results are stored where specified by the attribute, but also taken from there.

What about the following:

1. we extend the definition of data-awareness in the preamble to chapter
   "12 Forms" as follows:

   ---------------------------------------------------------------------
   * Forms can be data-aware. A form is data-aware if the values subject
to its controls are populated from and updated to a database.

     Via the form:datasource, form:command, form:command-type
attributes, a data-aware form defines a result set (a homogeneous set of rows
of data taken from the database). At each point in time, one row of
this set is current. The controls belonging to the form always
     operate on its current row.
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------

2. We change the description for form:data-field to:

   ---------------------------------------------------------------------
The form:data-field specifies the name of a column in the result set
defined by the containing (data-aware) form. The control will exchange its content
   with this column as follows:
   * When the current row of the form changes, the control is
initialized with the value from the column.
   * When the user changes the content of the control, then this changed
value is written back into the column.
Note: Applications may delay this write-back, for instance
until the control loses the focus, instead of updating the column
value with every minor change in the control.
   ---------------------------------------------------------------------

> Ed. Note We don't say where the name of the result set column is stored nor do we ever say how to determine what form contains a control. One assumes it is a container relationship but it isn't clear.
