Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1570) Editor Note: Section17.645 table:index

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1570?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12515#action_12515 ]

Patrick Durusau commented on OFFICE-1570:
-----------------------------------------

Note this is another place where we say that detective operations are tied to visible/invisible cells.

OK, table:index is an index of detective operations. Detective operations are listed in the table:name attribute. So far as I can tell, table:name allows one (1) detective operation per table:name attribute.

Unless table:index is specifying an index on <table:operation> elements inside a <table:detective> element, which would seem a little odd since each <table:operation> element could do so.

Unless this isn't an index at all but the order in which the <table:operation> elements are executed?

See the last line under <table:operation>: "To get a determinate behavior, operations have an index and are applied in the order of that index."

So, suggest that we say something like:

"The table:index attribute specifies for the <table:operation> element on which it appears, its order in a series of <table:operation> elements under a <table:detective> element such that the operations defined by those elements are applied in a determinate order."

That may or may not be right and/or too verbose but it is what I suspect is being said or at least implied by the current text.
