Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1258) Public Comment:Conformance / sub documents / T&Ds (ODF 1.2 CD01)

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1258?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15034#action_15034 ]

Patrick Durusau commented on OFFICE-1258:
-----------------------------------------

Err, when part 3 says:

"The sub files which are contained in a Zip file which are not defined by the OpenDocument Package specification are called sub documents."

I think you meant:

"The sub files, which are contained in a Zip file which is not defined by the OpenDocument Package specification, are called sub documents."

Note the added commas and are -> is.

We only use "sub document" twice outside of conformance, once in:

"Database documents can contain forms and reports as sub documents."

and,

"The draw:ole-draw-aspect attribute specifies the draw aspect that is used to display embedded objects. See [OLE]. The draw aspect controls whether the object is displayed as a normal sub document, or whether the object is for instance displayed as an icon only."

Which has other issues.

I suspect what is meant is:

"The draw:ole-draw-aspect attribute specifies the display of embedded objects. See [OLE]."

Noting that I ran down the OLE information which reports:

typedef enum tagDVASPECT
{
DVASPECT_CONTENT = 1,
DVASPECT_THUMBNAIL = 2,
DVASPECT_ICON = 4,
DVASPECT_DOCPRINT = 8
} DVASPECT;

I am going to file an issue to lose all the prose but my revision and the line saying it is deprecated.

On the issue of terms and definitions. First, that isn't required.

Second, and more importantly to my way of thinking, it is far more difficult to write good definitions without context than can be imagined unless you have tried it. It does provide a basis for consistent usage but personally I don't think it is worth the effort. We should be consistent anyway.
