Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2082) [Zip] reference isneither public nor authoritative

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2082?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16257#action_16257 ]

Robert Weir commented on OFFICE-2082:
--------------------------------------

Dennis, in the future please don't open new JIRA issues corresponding to public comments. I have automation that will automatically do this for all public comments, and I have no easy ability to tell which public comments have had JIRA issues opened by TC members and which ones have not. So when we both do the transfer, we will end up with duplicate issues in JIRA pointing to the same public comment. It also may give the wrong message to the other people who submit public comments and do not see an immediate personal message saying that we've opened a JIRA issue for them. Better to Just wait for the batch transfer of comments to occur like we've done for the other 1500 or so public comments. Nothing gets lost that way. and nothing gets duplicated. Thanks!

> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Packaging
> Affects Versions: ODF 1.0, ODF 1.0 (second edition), ODF 1.1, ODF 1.2
> Environment: This issue applies to all drafts of ODF 1.2 Part 3 Packages and the References and all references thereto in ODF 1.2 Part 1 and all previous versions of the OASIS ODF Standard.

> This issue is raised in the public comment at <http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office-comment/200910/msg00027.html>.
> 1. In ODF 1.2 Part 3 Packages draft-11-editor-revision, section 1.3, the normative reference for the Zip specification is given as
> [ZIP] Info-ZIP Application Note 970311, ftp://ftp.uu.net/pub/archiving/zip/doc/appnote-970311-iz.zip, 1997
> This same reference has been used in the OASIS Standards for ODF 1.1 and in ODF 1.0 Second Edition Committee Specification (and thereby IS 26300)..
> 2. The reference for Zip, <ftp://ftp.uu.net/pub/archiving/zip/doc/appnote-970311-iz.zip>, in ODF 1.2 Part 3 draft 11 is non-resolvable. The content previously reachable at that location has no clear provenance nor authority.
> 3. For ODF 1.0, the reference for Zip is
> [Zip] ZIP File Format Specification, http://www.pkware.com/products/enterprise/white_papers/appnote.txt, PKWARE Inc., 2004.
> This reference is more authoritative but non-specific.
