Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2641) [NEEDS-DISCUSSION]Redefine ill-defined NUMBERVALUE

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2641?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=18747#action_18747 ]

David Wheeler commented on OFFICE-2641:
----------------------------------------

Also, I think GroupSeparator (type Text) should be a text entry with 0 or more characters. All characters in this parameter should be simply ignored from the input. That way, if someone is dealing with data that has "1,000.00" and "1 000.00", with "." as the decimal separator, they could work if ", " (comma space) was the groupseparator.

We need to make it clear that exponential values, e.g., "1E10", are fine.

Should we also accept fractions, e.g., "1 1/3" or "5/6"?
