Subject: Groups - ODF 1.2 CD05 Conformance for Dummies v1.0 (ODF1.2-CD05-2010-05-31-1841-ConformanceForDummies.ods) uploaded
The document named ODF 1.2 CD05 Conformance for Dummies v1.0 (ODF1.2-CD05-2010-05-31-1841-ConformanceForDummies.ods) has been submitted by Dennis Hamilton to the OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC document repository. Document Description: ["... in a Nutshell" might be gentler] This diagram depicts all of the conformance targets for OpenDocument documents and packages and illustrates how they are related to each other. The nesting represents specialization. [Conforming] Document is a specialization of [Conforming] Extended Document, which is either a specialization of XML 1.0 or of [Conforming] OpenDocument Extended Package. The document structures overlay the package structures (and XML 1.0) in various ways that are also reflected in the diagram. The specific conditions of specialization are not identified, although some of the pertinent package variations are illustrated. It somewhat interesting that the ODF 1.2 CD05 specifiction does not use specialization as a straightforward means of presenting the relationship among the conformance targets. As the diagram demonstrates, there is such a presentation. I find focus on the specializations as more useful in examining the specification for errors and oversights. I offer it for those who find this as a comprehensible tool for their review and use of the specifications. I have not annotated this with furthr details. I am going to let this version sit for a while. Suggestions for next steps are welcome.
