I believe that this comment reflects the extent of the apparent misunderstanding about the scope of the original request at the SC34 ad hoc group meeting in Seattle that initiated the SC34 WG6.

It is certainly our understanding, and the direction taken, that we would respond only to specific defect-report items for which the disposition is that the particular provsion is implementation-dependent.  We don't seem to have achieved shared understanding.  I think we should ask WG6 to help us put this to rest.

(I believe we already dealt with our inability to use implementation-defined in errata, based on our sense of what that term imposes as new requirements.)
