Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2763) 19.779.3<text:database-next> - "square brackets" and "dots" ?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2763?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=19477#action_19477 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-2763:
-----------------------------------------

Looking at 19.779.3, the correct action is to delete the entire sentence
"Database field values can be used in the expression by enclosing in square brackets a database name, a table name, and a column name, separated by dots."

That is because, according to 19.779.1 the formula syntax and semantics are dependent on the namespace binding that is made in the attribute.

Furthermore, when it is OpenFormula, we will need to see how that happens there.

> I can guess on square brackets but prefer not to on "dots."
> enclosing in a pair of square brackets ("["(LEFT SQUARE BRACKET, U+005B) "]" (RIGHT SQUARE BRACKET, U+005D)) a database name, a table name, and a column name, separated by one period "." (FULL STOP, U+002E).
