Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3327) 6.20.25: Unichar-Semantics for UNICODE(UNICHAR(N)) doesn't hold true for all values of N

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3327?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=20338#action_20338 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-3327:
-----------------------------------------

Agreed. It must be the case only when N is a valid Unicode Code Point (i.e., not the same as a UTF-16 surrogate half, not any other value excluded as a code point).

> Section 6.20.25 Spec says:UNICODE(UNICHAR(N)) returns N for any N >=0 and N<= 1114111
> Some values of N (55296 for example) are non-characters and UNICHAR should return an error, which should be propagated to UNICODE.
