Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3437) Should TRENDfunction really only perform a simple regression?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3437?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=21294#action_21294 ]

Patrick Durusau commented on OFFICE-3437:
-----------------------------------------

Andreas, yes, something should be.

I suspect the "new X" in the equation just above it goes away. It probably (speaking with no personal knowledge) represents the offset.

I am going to suggest that as a resolution.

Do you think this needs discussion?

> TREND as currently described in ODF1.2CD5 only performs a simple linear regression. This matches what Gnumeric's version currently does. Both Excel and OOo appear to permit a multiple linear regression.
> Do we really want to restrict TREND to a simple linear regression?
