Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3101) 12.40<db:column-definition> Second sentence, note or delete?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3101?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=21360#action_21360 ]

Patrick Durusau commented on OFFICE-3101:
-----------------------------------------

Michael, could be a note but what does it tell an implementer of the standard in a non-normative sense? (Which is perfectly ok for a standard, I am just asking why we would want to say this?)

BTW, since we define the column attributes, those are fixed by ODF. Yes?

Which of those you would choose depends on the type of the column and database.

So what the proposed note says is:

"From the set of column attributes defined by OpenDocument, which ones that a user associates with a column, will depend upon the type of column and type of database."

All true but still not sure why we would say it.

In other words, what does it make clearer?

> Reads: "The column attributes that a column is associated with depend on the type of the column and the type of the database."
> I don't see how that adds anything in a normative sense.
