To me the term "escape point" sounds like an attempt to translate the German "Fluchtpunkt" into English. The correct or usual translationof "Fluchtpunkt" is "vanishing point".

Of course changing that term doesn't solve the problem. The term "Escape point" is used in 19.231.2 and 20.95. Unfortunately neither defines the term. Related terms used appear to be escape line, escape direction and escape angle. None of those terms are ever defined either.

For a definition of "vanishing point" one can see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanishing_point but that definition does not seem to make sense in this context.
