Re 1) The <applet> element in HTML is indeed deprecated, but deprecation is not part of the semantics. We may of course discuss for ODF-Next to deprecate <draw:applet>. Because we have no replacement for it in ODF 1.2, that is not an option for ODF 1.2.

Re 2) The xlink:href attributes takes over the purpose of the codebase. The current description indeed does not make this clear. Proposal:

The xlink:href attribute is equivalent to the archive attribute of an <applet> element in HTML. See. §13.4 of [HTML4].

Re 3) That's a copy and paste error. Of course it must read:

The draw:object attribute is equivalent to the *object* attribute of an <applet> element in HTML. See. §13.4 of [HTML4].

Re 4) -7) The counterparts these HTML attributes are specified at the surrounding draw:frame. A replacement text is not supported, since we are using the replacement feature of <draw:frame>. Class is not supported because ODF has its wn style system. Proposal: Add to the description of <draw:applet>

The applet name, width, height, margins, title and description are specified by the <draw:applet> element's <draw:frame> parent element. The <draw:applet> element does not support character data content.

8) Since that is the case applets in general, I think we would be over-specifying applets if we add this.
