Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3486) Section 19.364 -- Ithink we need a reference for the Unicode data base text file

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3486?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=22829#action_22829 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-3486:
-----------------------------------------

Good idea.

I keep thinking that there should be better normative reference than deep linking to the text file. We should find the wrapper that has some sort of statement of status, and ties to the particular tables that matter for us. (Or we could search on all coid points with NUMBER DIGIT in their names.)

Also, the URL you give seems to be inoperative.

I started nosing around at <http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr44/> but it seems there is quite a thicket of TRs to navigate, and they tend to have dependencies on particular versions of [Unicode], so we must be careful.

> In section 19.364 we currently say:
> "The value of the number:transliteration-format attribute shall be a decimal "DIGIT ONE" character with numeric value 1 as listed in the Unicode Character Database file UnicodeData.txt with value 'Nd' (Numeric decimal digit) in the General_Category/Numeric_Type property field 6 and value '1' in the Numeric_Value fields 7 and 8, respectively as listed in DerivedNumericValues.txt".
> Two problems:
> 1) Since this is a "shall" statement we need a normative reference for these files
> 2) We need to pick what version of these files to reference.
