Michael, I don't believe we have the right to say that about anyURI.  Furthermore, I don't understand how XSD 1.1 has anything to do with this when the only W3C Recommendation that is available is [xmlschema-2].   In addition, the description I propose, using a "derived" type, even though it is done entirely by schema pattern naming, not creation of a new datatype, will be compatible with [XSD 1.1] if the looser definition actually goes into effect.

I will provide a different restatement and see how that works, now that I am rested and back working on ODF 1.2 issue reconciliation.

I accept that you don't see the value.  Can you accept that they do no harm and others may see considerable value in them (not necessarily on this TC)?
