Subject: Clarification on errata stage identifiers ECD and ECD-PR
To: OASIS TCs with Errata work in progress 2011-04 http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TCADMIN-444 Emergency http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TCADMIN-424 CMIS http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TCADMIN-417 OpenDocument Summary: As of 2011-04-04, TC Admin does not anticipate using these Stage identifiers initially mentioned in the online forms for TC Administration Requests: Errata Committee Draft (ECD) Errata Committee Draft Public Review (ECD-PR) The above names were minted last October in an effort to clarify that a CSD approval/publication in the Approved Errata document stream is not quite the same as a regular CSD *in that* it belongs to a different workflow process. Similarly, the corresponding PR (public review draft) is part of the Errata production workflow, which is essentially OS mod/creat using a shortened process and progression: WD -> CD -> PR -> Errata On the other hand, since the two "ECD" document types use the same components and process as other CSD/CSPRD documents, and some users have been confused by the "ECD" terminology, it is being abandoned for now. The Stage identifiers recognized in the Naming Directives, TC Process, and TC Process FAQ are probably adequate for use in the development of an Approved Errata Document: http://docs.oasis-open.org/specGuidelines/ndr/namingDirectives.html#stage http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process-2010-07-28.php#standApprovProcess http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process-faq.php [1] === Details: Labels (stage names and abbreviations) now abandoned * online forms "a)" and "b)" will be removed. Errata Committee Draft (ECD) Errata Committee Draft Public Review (ECD-PR) a) Errata Committee Draft Creation / Upload Request http://marypmcrae.com/errata-cd-creation-request b) 15-Day Errata Committee Draft Public Review Request http://marypmcrae.com/15-day-errata-pr-request c) Approved Errata Creation / Upload Request http://marypmcrae.com/approved-errata-request Baseline from The TC Process Section "3.5 Approved Errata" http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process-2010-07-28.php#errata TCP uses the following standard labels in the outline of steps: OASIS Standard Approved Errata Committee Specification Draft Committee Specification Public Review Draft The creation of a CD and the PR process are identical to Standards Track for progress toward Approved Errata Example text from TC Process Section 3.5 "set of proposed corrections as a Committee Specification Draft" "15-day public review pursuant to Section 3.2" "subsequent Committee Specification Public Review Draft" [1] New Stage Identifiers (following Question #16) http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process-faq.php With the introduction of the Non-Standards Track come new stage identifiers. The Standards Track Work Product stages are Committee Specification Draft (CSD), Committee Specification Public Review Draft (CSPRD), and Committee Specification (CS). The Non-Standards Track Work Product stages are Committee Note Draft (CND), Committee Note Public Review Draft (CNPRD), and Committee Note (CN). Note that committee draft refers to either a CSD or CND; similarly, public review draft refers to either a CSPRD or CNPRD. -- Robin Cover Interim TC Administrator OASIS, Director of Information Services Editor, Cover Pages and XML Daily Newslink Email: robin@oasis-open.org Staff bio: http://www.oasis-open.org/who/staff.php#cover Cover Pages: http://xml.coverpages.org/ Newsletter: http://xml.coverpages.org/newsletterArchive.html Tel: +1 972-296-1783
