Subject: Placement of issue resolution - tabs and spreadsheets
Greetings! I discovered/uncovered our resolution of: https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-2127 on 2016-04-25, which reads: ***** Patrick: Note that tab alignment is expected (should) for interoperability (display) purposes Patrick: set to ODF 1.3 but resolution is a note on expected support for tab alignment in spreadsheets Darrin House: that looks good Patrick: consent on 2127 ***** I've updated JIRA to show the issue resolved but now have a question about where to best put the text? Part 4, OpenFormula has no mention of tabs at all. Part 3 has: 6.1.4 <text:tab> Defines the <text:tab> element - Good location for the proposed note? Or, 17.8 <style:tab-stop> Defines a tab stop. I'm leaning towards 17.8 <style:tab-stop> for a note that reads: "Note: Spreadsheets should use tab elements 6.1.4 to align data in columns." Other locations? I'm thinking that as presentation in spreadsheet is a matter of
style, that implementers will be more likely to catch the note
under styles. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Patrick PS: After agreement by the TC, this change will appear in a
future working draft.
