  #0041 Battery of ODF 1.2 Assessment Documents. In progress.

3. DELIVERABLES / TEST CASES

3.1 Protection-Key Edge Cases

No one has looked into these yet. Dennis provided a summary and links to the folder,
<http://tools.oasis-open.org/version-control/svn/oic/TestSuite/trunk/odf12/ProtectionKeyResilience/>
and the summary document,
<http://tools.oasis-open.org/version-control/svn/oic/TestSuite/trunk/odf12/ProtectionKeyResilience/ProtectionKeyResilience.txt>
It was explained that this has nothing to do with encryption but the use of digests as protection-key lock values.

3.2 Namespace Resilience

This is related to a problem that first came up with META-INF/digitalsignatures.xml namespaces. Dennis has gone back and created a set of initial cases using META-INF/manifest.xml only. The collection of currently-nine test cases and their different manifests is at
<http://tools.oasis-open.org/version-control/svn/oic/TestSuite/trunk/odf12/NameSpaceResilience/>
with description at
<http://tools.oasis-open.org/version-control/svn/oic/TestSuite/trunk/odf12/NameSpaceResilience/NameSpaceResilience.txt>.
Perhaps the most interesting result is the test of ten different releases, summarized anonymously in a single table:
<http://tools.oasis-open.org/version-control/svn/oic/TestSuite/trunk/odf12/NameSpaceResilience/NameSpaceResilience.txt>.
Dennis has since uses a RNG validator and consultation with RNG experts to conclude that only the first three tests use legal manifests. The table is going to be updated.
We know we need to do more on this aspect and to have more testing.

3.3 Digital Signature Advisory

Dennis proposed a digital-signature advisory on the list,
<http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oic/201108/msg00005.html>. This will be turned into an advisory. Dennis has confirmed that prefixed namespace bindings and default namespace bindings are equally valid. There was discussion about what the ODF Toolkit might do to navigate this situation also.
   Svante talked about situations involving revision signing and how that might work, if previous versions were retained somehow.

3.4 Table Cell Copying

Andreas has run into a problem with the copying of a selection of table cells from one document (spreadsheet) to another. Pasting creates a larger array than one just to hold the selected cells. We discussed the need for a standard mechanism for clipboard exchange and definition of what the payload formats are and how they are identified.
  Svante talked about copy-paste as something connected to collaboration and the ideas he has for putting collaboration, undo, change-tracking, and clipboard under a general solution.
  We also wondered whether the WG5 work on clipboard agreements has advanced at all and whether that should help with this, or be helped with this kind of problem.

4. ROUND TABLE

4.1 Rob has been making progress on authoring for interoperability and foresees a working draft.

4.2 The ODF 1.2 Candidate OASIS Standard 60-day public review concluded on August 22. It did receive a handful of public comments and some TC-member comments as well. The TC will go through those. There can be a vote in the TC to transmit the candidate OASIS Standard to the OASIS membership for ratification of the standard once there is disposition of the comments.

4.3 ODF 1.3 issues and enhancements and proposed test documents are coming out of the change-tracking discussion.

4.2 There's a Budapest International Symposium on the Value of ODF and Open Standards, June 28. Organizers include EuroOffice, Oracle Hungary, Budapest U of Tech and Economics, others.

4.3 The next Plugfest is November 17 in the Netherlands.

4.4 Svante is going to provide more on his ideas about an integrated solution on the list.

5. FUTURE MEETING PLANNING

The next teleconference meeting is September 7.

Respectfully submitted,

  Dennis E. Hamilton, OIC TC Secretary
