OpenC2 Technical Committee,
The New Context corporation will be hosting our next Face to Face on July 25, 26 in San Ramon California. Given the recent developments and progress within OpenC2, this Face to Face is especially timely. We have an opportunity to move some of our work
from drafts to Committee Specifications.
To get the most out of this Face to Face, we need to work with the New Context people. As soon as possible, will please address the following.
- Register ASAP at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/oasis-openc2-tc-f2f-tickets-46108225945?utm_source=eb_email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=order_confirmation_email&utm_term=eventname&ref=eemailordconf
. We need to have a reasonable estimate for the number of people attending so that New Context can prepare. If you're likely to attend but not 100% certain, please don't let that prevent you from registering.
- Provide Guidance with respect to a working meeting vs a 'business' meeting: Unless stated in advance, we cannot have formal motions and votes regardless of whether or not we have a quorum. The current scope of the meeting is for real time deliberation
of technical issues. It is my opinion that we keep this as a working meeting, but if there is sufficient interest in a business meeting, then please advise.
- Refine the agenda: We have a high level agenda with time allocated for each subcommittee. There is a lot of flexibility built in. Over the course of the next few weeks, please identify specific issues that need to be worked.
I wish to reiterate that the July 25, 26 Face to Face is particularly timely. By July 25:
- We will be at or very near CSD version 7 of the Language Specification. The face to face meeting will provide an opportunity to work out the final deliberations and move from a CSD to an actual Committee Specification.
- We currently have CSD version 1 of the Stateless Packet Filtering profile and the face to face meeting provides an opportunity to move the profile to a Committee Specification.
- Some preliminary work is being done on an SDN controller profile and an endpoint remediation profile. The face to face will hasten a draft for consideration as a CSD.
- The face to face will provide us an opportunity to converge on our first implementation specification.
We are converging on our final draft Language Specification and as of a week ago we had our first Actuator Profile as a CSD. OpenC2 will need the Language specification, at least one actuator profile and implementation guidance prior to submitting to
OASIS for the standards track. The pending face to face meeting is a very real opportunity for us. Please register as soon as possible and we will make it happen!
Thank you
Very Respectfully,
Joe Brule
