Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OSLCCORE-123) Query spec does not describe what properties are returned if oslc.select is not specified
[ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OSLCCORE-123?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=68523#comment-68523 ] David Honey commented on OSLCCORE-123: -------------------------------------- Yes. However, if an implementation returned one or more member properties, then a user cannot specify an oslc.select to return none because the syntax requires that there be at least one property and a blank value would be invalid syntax. So if the spec doesn't forbid an implementation from returning one or more member properties by default, then we have https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OSLCCORE-148. So I think we have a choice between the following two: 1) The spec should say that if oslc.select is not specified, that the response SHOULD not contain any member properties. or 2) The spec should say that oslc.select is not specified, a server MAY return and undefined and possibly empty set of properties, and we need to define a new mechanism to explicitly specify no member properties, such as allowing a blank value or some new "none" keyword. I think #1 is simplest so will update the proposal to say that. > Query spec does not describe what properties are returned if oslc.select is not specified > ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: OSLCCORE-123 > URL: https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OSLCCORE-123 > Project: OASIS OSLC Lifecycle Integration Core (OSLC Core) TC > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: Query > Reporter: David Honey > Assignee: James Amsden > > The spec does not define what properties, if any, of the member resources are returned when oslc.select is not specified. I have seen some implementations return no properties, some return all properties, and some return some [unspecified] subset of properties. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.2.2#6258)
