PKI Testing SC status report - September '04

The main activities for this period have been a teleconference with the
TC leadership and outreach to NIST and The Open Group.

Steve, John and I were able to discuss several items on directions the
Testing SC could pursue. The primary discussion involved how we could
establish relationships with other organizations with an aim to
consolidating information on testing activities involving PKI that
others are doing.  John and Steve were to discuss this further with Mary
McRae, our OASIS external relationships coordinator.

Steve and John had several good ideas that we will act on.  One is an
outreach effort that I have started.  I have emailed several NIST staff
that are involved in PKI activities and invited them to join the PKI TC
and asked for any contacts that they might have of organizations engaged
in testing or certification of PKI products and services.  I also
emailed The Open Group seeking discussions on how we might collaborate
or republish their efforts and experiences regarding testing and
certification.

I am still trying to identify the Booz Allen coordinator for our
subscription with the Burton Group in order to obtain a consulting
period with their lead PKI Analyst.  Our aim there is to identify any
PKI testing/certification activities that we may not already know of.

We will also be preparing a resources proposal to obtain contract
assistance in research and web publication of testing services and
results.
